One distinguishing feature of the Royal Family is that they work to represent the British nation and people. As Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth leads, with her heirs and family following, they need to remain united-working and communicating together. This unity needs to be demonstrated as a family and an entity to those within the family, and to the world outside. No family is perfect, so they need our prayers for unity.
Pray:
‘Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.’ 1 Corinthians 1:10
As Paul writes above, so we pray ask Lord for unity in the Royal Family and Royal Households too – their different roles, responsibilities, offices, locations, families, and patronages. Where there are hidden divisions, bring healing. Where there are misunderstandings about roles and responsibilities, let your peace rule as they talk together to one another. Bring the Royal Family together regularly to listen deeply to one another. In the place where resentment and frustration lies, release your grace. Bring in Your healing balm where hurts reside and let forgiveness and love reign.
‘So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them.’ Acts 4:24
Jesus, we pray that they would raise their voices together, in ‘one accord’, praising You for all that You are, and all that You have and are doing for them as a Royal family. Increase their longing for You God, Your word and the life that You give. May their words and life be a beautiful sound in your hearing, just as an orchestra works together to make harmonious music.
‘How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.’ Psalm 133
As the Royal Family work together for the common good of the nation of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, we pray that they would live in harmony with each other. Harmony between family members, official offices, locations and roles. May this harmony be evident not only for all the nation to see but for the Royal Household staff too. Lord, pour out your blessing on their unity.
‘Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.’ Ephesians 4:2-3
May unity in the family be demonstrated through patience, humility and gentleness. But mostly, bound together with a deep love for each other and You, O God. Guard their hearts and minds against anything or anyone that would bring division within the Royal Family or Household. Protect them Lord by your mighty hand in their desire to be united in heart, mind and faith too.
