The result of praying for those in authority (Part 2 of 3)

Continuing from the verses in 1 Timothy 2:2
‘For kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct.’

Continuing from the verses in 1 Timothy 2:2

‘for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct.’

The reason we should pray for kings and queens and those in authority is to enable us to live better lives. When peace and quiet reigns, there is a form of restfulness. That is a great result or outcome, isn’t it!

However, there are many countries around the world who are in turmoil. The countries that lack peace within them often have differing opinions within their authority structure on how to fix the ‘problems’. These countries want and need true peace. Peace not only for their hearts and souls but for their bodies too. Free from attitudes of the heart such as anger, hatred, bitterness. Free from disasters, famines and poverty. Free from political strife and unrest; of civil wars and violence. Take a moment to pray for one country that needs peace right now…

We can choose to pray for those in authority over us to assist His peace coming to our lands. Whether or not we agree with the decisions that are made, we still have an Almighty God who is above that authority, and we can be truly thankful for that.

Pray:

‘For kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct.’ 1 Timothy 2:2

‘So give me the wisdom and knowledge I need to rule over them. Otherwise, how would I ever be able to rule this great people of yours?’ 2 Chronicles 1:10

Father God, I thank you for peace in the country of the UK. Despite many challenges in the society of Great Britain, I am grateful for those who lead and govern the country, including HM Queen Elizabeth. May her reign continue to contribute to the quiet and peaceful life we have as a nation. Lead me towards a greater reverence of You, I ask.

In the coming days as Brexit changes are unravelled, I pray for continuing peace. Please keep the nations’ leaders responsible and accountable for the changes they bring. May they only be changes that You want to be brought in for the good of the whole nation. Remind the leaders of Great Britain to be eager to listen to each other and the people of the nation who will be impacted by Brexit. May HM Queen Elizabeth be the stabilising force whilst these changes take place.

I pray that HM Queen Elizabeth would know how to lead as the head of the state and nation at this uncertain time of Brexit. Give her the right questions as she looks over, and signs the legislation. I pray that as King Solomon asked of God, that HM The Queen would be given great wisdom and knowledge to rule Great Britain. Bless and encourage her with our prayers for our nation.

Through my prayers for the leadership of this country and HM The Queen, I pray that I will have a greater reverence towards God and His sovereignty. Support me as I conduct myself in a respectable manner as a citizen of this nation to demonstrate Your reign. Please help me, as this isn’t always easy to achieve when facing challenging situations, or listening to the news.

In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
