Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is the Head of State for this nation and 15 others, and she is the Head of the Nation of Great Britain and Ireland.
The death of a king or queen is a national, and possibly an international catastrophe. This is because the effect of their death impacts the whole of the nation in one way or another. This would also be the case if a Royal heir’s death was sudden and unexpected or their life was taken by another person. Many can remember the unexpected death of Diana, Princess of Wales, who was killed in a fatal car accident in 1997.
For this reason, the British Royal family has the most security of any family in the land. The Royal family have specially trained members of staff who provide protection for them, against anyone who would wish to do them harm.
Pray:
‘This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.’ Psalms 91: 2-3
‘I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.’ Psalm 121
Dear Lord Jesus, I thank you that You are above all things and You perceive the thoughts of people in the world. In our nation today, as increasing security measures are put in place for Her Majesty, family and Royal Residences, be with them. Help them balance the need for privacy and needing to be in the public eye with security all around them. Guard the Royal family with your heavenly angels.
Give their bodyguards, security staff and Police the insight they need to be able to protect the Royal family in their different locations, and at their engagements. Improve the communication of these staff members, so that they work together well as a team with the same purpose, each one knowing their place in the structure. Reveal to them any potential and actual dangers, risks or traps set up against them so that they might take appropriate action.
I know that you, O God, are the ultimate protection of HM The Queen and her family. As they trust in You, give them places of refuge and safety. Thank you Lord, that you are the best source of help, and we can cry out to You for this. Keep the Royal family mindful of their security protocol and out of harm’s way. Thank you that You never slumber or sleep-awake 24/7- on call to hear our needs. Hear the cries of the Royal family and their staff as they need your help in this important matter, especially in recent days.
Let’s pray the Church of England Prayer of Preparation for ourselves as we consider ourselves before God:
‘Almighty God,
to whom all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from whom no secrets are hidden:
cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord.’
