Balmoral is where Her Majesty goes to for her summer break. Many of her family also join her for this. It is a private and secluded place, away from the media and the public eye. Occasionally she holds audiences with ambassadors here. In the Autumn, the Prime Minister of the day is invited to spend a weekend with Her Majesty at the Residence.
Balmoral Castle is open to the public April-July before HM The Queen arrives.

Let’s pray:
‘Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honours him the most.’ Psalm 23: 1-3 TLB
Father God, we all need times of rest and refreshment in our lives. Times to evaluate the past months or years in order help us go forward with fresh energy and insight. Thank you that Her Majesty has a private place that she can go to in order to reflect, rest and consider the months ahead. We pray that you would give her everything that she needs as she rests in the quiet highlands of Scotland. Give her a new strength to be able to honour you in all she does and says, whether this is with family, friends, the public or her Royal Household staff.
Thank you that Balmoral Castle is a place that Her Majesty can invite her family to come to. As they come together during the summer break, give them special moments to treasure with HRH Prince Philip and Her Majesty being Father & Mother, Grandparents, and Great-Grandparents too. In the safety and security that the children have at the Castle, bless them with the freedom to explore and investigate too. Freedoms that they lack elsewhere in the country because of public and media interest.
We also pray for the times that Her Majesty invites the current Prime Minister and their spouse to stay for time to talk informally about national and international events. As leaders in the nation, give them time to talk frankly in private about matters that concern them. Give them mutual understanding and listening ears to hear what the other is saying. We pray that there would also be laughter between them, to brighten their time together.
We pray for the Balmoral Castle staff who work and live at the Castle to keep it going. We pray that their dedication to the house and Royal family members, that they would be honoured. As staff members work in both the house and the garden environment may the staff be full of honesty, integrity and dedication as they work in this special home.
Father God, we pray this prayer of blessing over Her Majesty as she continues to reign over the nation:
‘The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace.’
Numbers 6: 24-26 NIVUK
In the name of Jesus Christ, we ask,
Amen.
