Platinum Wedding Anniversary

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, & HRH Prince Philip today celebrate their Platinum Wedding Anniversary.

A platinum wedding anniversary celebrates 70 years since a couple were married.

Elizabeth II married Prince Philip on 20th November 1047 in Westminster Abbey. She is the first Monarch to celebrate and reach a platinum wedding anniversary. Today there will be a private celebration held at Windsor Castle for close family and friends.

Three new photos have also been released for this special occasion.

Let us continue to pray for them:

‘Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.’ Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 NLT

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the example of the marriage of HM Queen Elizabeth & HRH Prince Philip being married for 70 years. It is a mark very few can or are able to make, let alone that of a Monarch. As a nation, we are truly blessed to have Queen Elizabeth as our Monarch and to be supported by her husband, Prince Philip, the Queen’s consort.

Today they will celebrate this occasion privately with their close family and friends. We pray that this will be a very special time for the family to come together as one. Father, make them united as a family, radiating your glorious presence. As they spend unrushed time together, we pray that you would bless their conversations.

As the grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren of Prince Philip & Queen Elizabeth join the celebrations, we pray that there would be much laughter, fun and games within the walls of Windsor Castle. As they all catch up on news, share the people they have met and the places they have visited recently, we pray for a sense of deep understanding, one to another like never before.

Most of all we pray for the marriage of HM Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip. We thank you for the years they have had together. We thank you for their health and all that they have shared together. We thank you for the secret times where one has needed and been given the encouragement of the other. For the private times that they have stood together, cried together, worked out difficult decisions together & enjoyed times of being silently understood, we thank you Father God. You have been so gracious to them.

We pray for their future as a couple and pray that you would sustain their health and well-being. Grant them the energy and strength to face each day of duties, people and state papers, balanced with spending time with each other and their family too. Facing the years ahead, we pray that this unique couple would be able to impart to their children the things they need to know and be aware of for the future of their family, and for the monarchy too.

Lord, we ask for many more married years for them as a couple. May these years be an example to their family, the nation and the world of what marriage can look like. Be with them especially today we ask and pray,

In Jesus’ name we ask,
Amen.
